That's a question we hear quite often. In fact, sometimes we hear it after the fundraising group has already received their candy. At that point the question is mute since you can not return candy after you receive it.
But we will address the reasons why food products generally and candy specifically can not be returned in another article. So how much fundraising candy should you order? The answer varies depending on your fundraising goal and the type of group you have. But here are some averages:
1. The typical fundraising group (if the word typical can be used when describing a fundraising group) will purchase one case of candy for every 2 to 4 people selling the candy. Of course there are groups that will sell a case or more per person but those are the exception.
2. That means that each seller is given 1 or 2 carriers of candy. Most fundraising candy comes in cases with 4 carriers of candy per case. If the candy you want has 2 carriers take that into consideration when determining the number of cases you purchase.
3. Remember that candy is priced based on the number of cases that ship at one time. If you purchase 60 cases of candy you will get a good price. But if you try to purchase 10 more cases later on you might be surprised to learn you might not qualify for the same low price.
4. While you obviously want to sell as much candy as possible the worst possible outcome after a candy fundraiser is to have a lot of candy left over. So don't be dissappointed if you quickly sell all of your candy. Deem that a successful candy fundraiser and use that to project how much you will buy next time.
I hope these tips will help you determine how much fundraising candy your group should buy.
