If you are holding a bake sale, get parents, volunteers or local merchants to donate the baked goods. Do your best to get the whole community involved. People love to support local groups. This is a great way for people to come together, spend time with friends or meeting new people at the school.
Quite a few schools have decided to combine selling frozen cookie dough with a bake sale event. That way people come to the school and get the opportunity to purchase great tasting cookies to support your school group and then are offered chance to purchase tubs so they can enjoy the cookies in their own home.
These events, like all other fundraising events, take some planning. Here are some tips to make sure your sale goes well:
Make sure someone is in charge: The problem with many school fundraisers is that there are many Indians and few chiefs. There needs to be one person in charge who can make decisions and who people can approach with problems.
Get all the Volunteers possible: Believe it or not, you can not have too many volunteers. When combining cookie dough fundraising with a bake sale, the list of small details can be long. Just think, you need to set up tables, arrange for the baked goods, plan the cookie dough portion of the sale, handle publicizing the event, cleaning up, etc.
Location, Location, Location: Make sure you hold your sale where people will find you. Look for the highest traffic area for your school. Place posters around the school and throughout the community making sure people know about your sale. Be sure to have plenty of products available to sell too!
Take advantage of the audience: If you are having a bake sale, you might want to also sell fresh coffee or soft drinks. Cold bottled water should also be offered. If your school has a cook book, this is a good time to offer those for sale. Make sure your audience knows why you are raising money and let them know that the school will accept donations for their fundraising efforts. The bottom line is to plan ahead so your event is as successful as possible.
