How many merchants can be on my card?
The number varies card to card. We suggest you limit the offers to no more than 14 or the offers are printed too small to be easily read. We have had fundraising groups want as few as two merchants on the back. We suggest you get between 8 and 12 merchants. That will give potential supporters a good selection of offers that make the card more valuable and attractive to more people.
Can I return unsold discount cards?
Discount cards are customized for your group and therefore can not be returned. Most groups report sales between 5 and 15 cards per seller. But you are the best judge of your groups motivation and need to sell. We always tell people that a great fundraiser is one where you sell all the cards you purchased and wish you had just a couple more. A bad one is when you sell a bunch of cards but still have a bunch left over.
How do I sign up my own merchants?
First you need to download our Discount Card merchant agreement and make enough copies to hand out. We suggest you form a committee to help sign up merchants. Have a short meeting where you identify the merchants you would like to contact and give each person on the committee a list of merchants to call. They should personally visit the merchant and ask to talk to the owner or manager. Let them know what group you are with and ask if they would be willing to place a NO COST ad on the back of a discount card your group is creating. Get them to write down their offer and sign the contract.
What kind of offers should I get?
Many merchants will offer a percentage off purchases. These are good offers and should not be frowned upon. You should try if at all possible to get as many Buy One Get One Free offers. While those are not practical for many businesses you should suggest one if asked.
