The benefits: Discount cards will obviously benefit your team as you make profits. The cards will also benefit the businesses that participate. Not only does it show support for the local team, but it provides them with more business. Yes, there is an argument that they will be losing some money if they are giving discounts, but people who would not normally come in will when they have a discount or coupon. What they lose in individual sales, they make up for in larger quantity of customers.

The profit: Just like the stock market, with discount cards the key is to buy low and sell high. The more cards your team purchases for the basketball fundraising campaign, the less you pay per card.

The look: Cards can be designed to feature your school mascot, a team logo, team colors, or whatever your team has in mind. After the cards are paid for a designer will work on making a design based on the specifications given by the team. The card is 100% yours – so be sure to give any ideas you have in mind.

The process: Download and print out copies of the Merchant Agreement. Ask local businesses to participate in the fundraiser by filling out the form, indicating what type of discount they are willing to contribute to the cause. Your team can fit up to 12 locations on the back of the card. Once all the forms are filled out, simply fax them in and call to place your order.
