Using Discount Cards as DECA Fundraisers

Post Icon Posted on 03/05/2010

DECA Fundraisers are some of the most interesting and enjoyable fundraisers to be a part of. These students are naturally ambitious, and interested in marketing and business, which makes them perfect when you need a team of Fundraising salesmen to go out and get the job done.

DECA chapters tend to run on the small side, and there are certain fundraisers that are particularly appropriate for smaller groups with big goals.

Discount cards can be a great DECA Fundraising idea, as they combine high profits with local marketing, and take advantage of all the skills your students have. The way Fundraising Discount Cards work is pretty easy.

Your students will approach local retail business owners and ask if they want to participate in the Fundraiser and have their business be included on the card. Getting businesses signed up is often the part that people would not look forward to having to do, but these are DECA fundraisers, and this is exactly the sort of exercise that is good practice for them. Signing up businesses is not all that difficult, and if you pair the students off, they can probably get it done in a single weekend. Once you receive your cards, your DECA fundraiser is ready to go.

The concept is easy: your supporters buy the cards, and they receive significant discounts from the retailers you signed up. The retailers get new business, and of course your DECA chapter keeps the profit on the cards. You can make up to 90% profit with discount card DECA fundraisers, and the best part is that discount cards can very easily be made into an annual effort.

Your supporters will look forward to getting their new cards year after year, and this can translate into fundraising dollars that will keep your DECA chapter afloat for a long time to come.
