Our world is huge, in fact it is enormous. It would be so easy to live in your little bubble where everything is the same and nothing ever changes. Experiencing new things, ideas and people can be very scary. In order for people to help others and realize what they have, they should be involved with others through out the world. This is where the people to people ambassadors come in. These kids, young adults and adults travel the world and experience life outside their bubble.

Students participating in this program, though, need to pay their own way. That makes People to People Ambassador Fundraising so common these days. These students love the program and are willing to pay for it. Here is a brief history of People to People:

In 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower created the people to people ambassador program. He believed that ordinary citizens of different nations could solve their differences and find a way to live in peace if they could meet directly. He also believed that these ordinary people could fix problems where the government could not. These ordinary people can be young teenagers to senior citizens. Each person visits a part of the world with the same ideas and goals: peace, courage, and knowledge. It is an experience that only a small percent get to experience, but it is well worth it to everyone involved. These ambassadors get to experience lives and cultures of others from different sides of the globe. Ambassadors have created life long friendships, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. President John F. Kennedy said it wisely ?The nature of People to People activities is as varied as the individuals involved. The housewife whose recipe contains the yeast of kindness, the soldier whose arms embrace homeless waifs, the doctor who heals with humility, all assert a single theme?the power of people, acting as individuals, to respond imaginatively to the world?s need for peace.? Each people to people ambassador has the same idea that one person can make a difference. Many ambassadors visit a country in hopes of creating peace and teaching new ideas to a country. But what usually happens is the ambassador comes back home with more knowledge, passion and love than they ever knew they could have. The people to people ambassadors program is something that everyone should try and participate in. Not everyone goes to another country, many stay and welcome ambassadors into their homes from other countries.

The people to people ambassadors program was started in 1956 and has exploded since. Everyone involved in this program is there for the same reasons: peace, helping one person at a time.
