Candy Fundraisers - Learn How to Raise the Most Money
Written by Howard Gottlieb
Are you one of the people that just doesn't know whether you want to hold a candy fundraiser for any one of various reasons?
If so you're not alone. A lot has changed over the years with candy fundraising specifically and fundraising in general.
For one many schools no longer allow groups to sell candy on campus. For another many of the best known brands like Mars, Snickers and Hersheys have either raised prices so much that they essentially priced their products out of fundraising or simply left the market.
That doesn't mean candy fundraising isn't a great option. In fact candy fundraising is alive and well and being used by groups all over the country to raise money.
However there are 3 things you will want to know before choosing the best candy fundraiser.
Important Point #1: How Much it Costs to Get Started?
Did you know that candy is different than some other fundraisers because it is a direct sale item as opposed to a pre sell item like cookie dough.
What does that mean? Essentially it means you purchase candy or lollipops so you physically have the product onhand to sell. You've probably walked up to a grocery store at some point and a child carrying a box of candy bars asked if you'd support their group by buying some candy. That's how candy fundraisers work.
So how much does it cost to get started?
Cost can be issue because you need to buy candy to sell it. If your group has no money to spend then candy fundraising might not be for you. You might look at our no upfront money options.
The only type of group that we don't require upfront payment from are public schools that issue public school purchase orders. Public schools can get 30 day terms with purchase orders.
Paying in advance can be hard for some groups. That's why we offer different products that have only one case minimums. While you would still have to pay in advance that limits the amount of money you need to get started.
In order to determine how much money it costs to get started you need to choose your candy and how many cases you feel like your group can sell. Multiply those numbers together to get your upfront cost.
Important Point #2: Is Shipping Included in the Price?
We include the cost of shipping in the price of everything on this page. So when we tell you shipping is FREE we mean shipping is free to any address in the 48 continental United States.
Some people are skeptical of free shipping offers and feel like there are gimmicks somewhere. We want to assure you Easy Fundraising Ideas pays 100% of the shipping costs. You pay only for your candy and lollipops. Period.
There are companies that might offer lower prices for their candy but will charge for shipping. That can be a problem because a case of candy can weigh up to 40 pounds and that's expensive to ship.
Important Point #3: Minimums and Packaging
Candy and lollipops are both sold by the case. The good news is that you can buy as little as one case of any of our products.
The candy bars are packaged in handled carriers and most cases include 4 carriers. The number of bars in each carrier varies from product to product. You can get the specifics on each of the product pages. The important thing to know here, though, is to know you are buying candy by the case.
Lollipops are also sold by the case. Most come with 640 lollipops per case divided into 8 bags containing 80 lollipops. There are a couple of options with smaller cases. There is only a 1 cases minimum on all of lollipops regardless of the case quantity.
Remember that there are price breaks for groups that can purchase more than one case of candy at a time. The primary reason for those price breaks is the lower cost on a per case basis to ship the candy.
So What Are the Most Popular Candy Fundraisers Right Now?
Original One Dollar Bars are PEANUT FREE and the largest fundraiser candy bars. Besides being the largest candy bar the One Dollar Bars are only sold through fundraising and are not sold in discount retail stores or vending machines at discounted prices. Once upon a time you used to see kids both young and old walking around with handled carriers of fundraising candy. But you don't see that very much any more. Have you wondered why? It is not the popularity of candy or the ability to sell it. In fact we had a 5th grade in an elementary school order 65 cases of M&M's candy from us and come back to reorder more. Just so...
For some reason people are the most confused when it comes to figuring out whether candy fundraisers are profitable or not. Actually many people have a hard time figuring out what candy fundraising profits are and how they calculate them. Here are the basics: You purchase fundraising candy by the case. In most instances a case contains multiple carriers of candy in each each. For example Hershey's candy fundraisers come with 4 carriers of candy...
Candy fundraising is changing fast. Even though the $1.00 candy bar has gone away for Hershey and Mars companies, there still are $1.00 candy options. The original one dollar bar is a wonderful fundraising bar and you can still sell them for $1.00. The two variety packs, the United We Stand and the Chocolatiers, are very popular and you can buy one case at time instead of 6 to 7 cases. You can also buy...
High School Groups tend to be one of the hardest groups of people to pull together for a fundraiser. In most cases direct sell fundraisers, like candy, work the best. Most High School kids are walking around with a buck or two in their pockets. And show me one teenage kid that doesn?t have some form of a sweet tooth. The best seller for this group has been Hershey's fundraising candy and Shockwave Lollipops. ...

Kari, Thank you so much for the quick shipping of our suckers. I just wanted you to know we sold out of our suckers in only two days! The students had a blast and I would do it again. We will be keeping your company in mind the next time we have a fundraiser. The only thing I can think of that would have made the sale easier is to have all of the same flavor suckers packaged together rather than mixed flavors in a bag. Sincerely, Deborah
